Congratulations to our 2020 St. Luke’s Nurse Educator Scholarship recipient, Ebony M. Samuel-Bakpessi, MSN-Ed., RN-BC, NPD. Ebony is a Nurse Scientist who works with nurses and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals in an acute care setting to ensure patient safety, best practices, supportive research and evidence-based practice, and nursing professional development opportunities. A nurse for 15 years with backgrounds in medical-surgical nursing, neonatal intensive care nursing, nursing education, nursing professional development, and nursing research, Ebony knows how important it is to connect with the heart-beat of others. 

In efforts to expand her knowledge in the global healthcare sector, she attended the first Sigma Theta Tau International Institute for Global Healthcare Leadership and participates in humanitarian efforts in Africa and the Caribbean. Ebony received her Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing degree and Master of Science in Nursing Education degree from Ramapo College of New Jersey and is currently completing her second semester in the Pace University PhD in Nursing program. She has received board certification in Nursing Professional Development from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Ebony looks forward to future innovative experiences that will continue to support the art and future of nursing and nursing education.
