American Nurses Association (ANA) believes advocacy is a pillar of nursing practice and has declared 2018 the Year of Advocacy. This year’s Future of Nursing booth promotes advocacy at the bedside and beyond, building on our previous work promoting individual and community health. The ANA Code of Ethics defines advocacy as “the act or process of pleading for, supporting, or recommending a cause or course of action.” ANA recognizes nurses are natural advocates for individuals, groups, population, and society.
